ENGLISH TRANSLATION

Nothing ever lasts forever
In the end, you changed
There is no reason, no sincerity
Take away such a thing as love
Tonight, I’ll be crooked

Leave me alone
I was alone anyway
I have no one, everything is meaningless
Take away the sugar-coated comfort
Tonight, I’ll be crooked

I scream and get dizzy
I vent out of boredom to other couples
I start fights for no reason like a town gangster
Sometimes, I purposely shake my leg, crookedly
The main characters of the movie called this world is you and me
A lonely island, lost and wandering
The empty streets are filled with those who are alone
Unlike my heart, the weather is so damn nice

I used to believe in you alone and I was happy
But like a joke, I am left alone
You used to promise me with your pinky finger
But in the end

Nothing ever lasts forever
In the end, you changed
There is no reason, no sincerity
Take away such a thing as love
Tonight, I’ll be crooked

Leave me alone
I was alone anyway
I have no one, everything is meaningless
Take away the sugar-coated comfort
Tonight, I’ll be crooked

I’ll put on thick eyeliner, use a whole can of hairspray
Leather pants, leather jacket with a frown
I want to hide my pain and become even more crooked
So you can feel sorry, I’ll spit toward the sky
You’re scared of my crude words and my rough eyes
But actually, I’m afraid, I want to go back but I have nowhere to go
I want to love but no one to love, what am I supposed to do?
I can’t turn it back

I used to believe in you alone and I was happy
But like a joke, I am left alone
You used to promise me with your pinky finger
But in the end

Nothing ever lasts forever
In the end, you changed
There is no reason, no sincerity
Take away such a thing as love
Tonight, I’ll be crooked

Leave me alone
I was alone anyway
I have no one, everything is meaningless
Take away the sugar-coated comfort
Tonight, I’ll be crooked

Will you not say anything for me tonight?
I didn’t know being alone would be this hard (I miss you)
Will you be my friend tonight?
On this good day, this beautiful day, this day where I miss you

Tonight, I’ll be crooked

Q: Your first World Tour is almost at an end and it’s hot! Although you still have some shows left, how do you feel to successfully end your tour?
My first world tour was last year's BIG BANG world tour. And I was still half worried and half excited to visit new places for my concert but it was really fun touring around. Personally I never have time to travel but as I was on this tour, I could rest during break times and hang out with staff. I’m glad I could make many memories. For me it was like a school field trip. I was also glad that I got love everywhere I went.

Q: Even if it’s overseas, I think people will still recognize you!
So I can’t really go everywhere as I wish. So I play at hotel swimming pools and go out to eat. It’s still fun. I feel like I can bond with my staff a little more.

Q :Even though you toured with the BIG BANG members, I think it was still like a new challenge to be touring as a solo.
Since it was a concert right after BIG BANG’s I was worried. Although I was worried that I might harm the good reputation of BIG BANG’s successful world tour, I saw the potential in me and I had a firm belief that it’s worth the try. Pressure and worries are only there in first few concerts and as my body got used to the atmosphere, I got more relaxed and it becomes like a practice. I just have to play and have fun on stage. I came up to a conclusion that that’s better for me and also to those who are watching me, so I have emptied my mind and decided to just enjoy.

Q: Are you the type that doesn’t get stressed easily? No matter what, with busy schedule, it’s normal for celebrities to have stress. I wonder how you relieve your stress.
Hmm, it depends on what kind of stress it is. For example, if I get stressed out about musical things, I must relieve it with music. Whether I can or not, I keep writing songs. I get relieved when I can finally write a good song that I can be satisfied with. It’s like my occupational disease. Just like any people my age, I relieve stress by chatting and drinking with my friends. I watch movies or just blankly stare at nothing. When I spend time with my non-celebrity friends I feel relaxed because I feel like a normal person, not a celebrity.

Q: GD is an artist that has a huge image of a “Creator”. Where does your creativity come from? From what do you get inspirations?
I get inspirations from ‘people’. That’s why I enjoy meeting others. I especially get a lot of inspiration as I eat and talk with others. Sometimes I watch movies or read and get inspirations from a certain quote or a word. It's kinda late but I really like the movie "Midnight in Paris" by Woody Allen.

Q: I think you’re someone who gets into something pretty deep once you get into it. What have you been into recently?
I get addicted to different things every time. Last year I rode skateboards the whole year. I think I’ve been reading comics (mangas) all this year.

Q: What are you manga preferences, boy mangas? Or like Hero comics like Marbles comics?
I like long mangas like "One Piece". I like reading classics like "Slam Dunk", so I recently re-read it. I’m thinking about buying the "Dragon Ball" series. I really like old animes and mangas.

Q: If you were to compare yourself to an anime character who would it be?
I would compare myself to "One Piece". I think I’m like “Luffy,” living a life as a boy and as a man at the same time. Oh yeah, and my fans used to tell me that I look like "Whang Bo Rayong" from "Audition".

Q: Including today, we can see that you concentrate very well during shootings. There was nothing to correct. I thought maybe you could even start acting. Are you willing to try in that field?
If I had the opportunity I would try acting but I’m not that confident. Watching dramas and movies, I think the tone of your voice is important as an actor, but I have a really thin voice. I tried to say some lines but it was just so weird. So I’m good at acting in Music Videos because I don’t have to talk. Haha!

Q: Since you’re interested in many fields, you probably have other fields that you wanna challenge yourself in.
Since I like clothes I want to try the fashion industry. But, just like how I worked in the music industry for over 10 years, there are people who worked hard in the fashion field, so I’m careful to say this. I just hope to get help from them or even help them and try in fashion industry. All I can say now is that I’m in the preparation stage

Q: It was a big issue because of your invention of a new flavor and designing of the new label (for Vitamin Water). Was this a new challenge for you too?
Since I like Vitamin Water so much, I said yes right away. When I went to New York a long time ago for music mixing work, I first discovered Vitamin Water. Then it came out in Korea so I’ve been like living with it. And I was interested because it’s not like a clothes or shoes ad that I’ve done before but it was a lifestyle brand. It was something that I liked, and I could be beyond just a model and I could design the label and even invent a flavor. First it sounded like a lot of work so I thought it would be a hassle. But when they told me that the slogan of this project was ‘Be Glaceau’ I asked “What is being like Glaceau?” and they said “Being G-DRAGON!” When I heard that I thought I have to do this.

Q: So what is it like to “Be G-DRAGON?” What’s something that only GD can show?
Honestly I don’t think there’s anything that I can only show. But I have something that I want to show. As I worked with Glaceau Vitamin Water, I learned that their slogan is “Global, Unique, Stylish, Trendy, and Creative” and these are words that people get from me. Just like this I want to show the good sides of me to people. Wherever I am and whatever I’m doing, I want people to say “If it’s GD, I can surely trust him”.

Q: That’s like your usual saying of “I want to make music that gives off good energy” But what do you mean by “Good energy?”
Hmm… It’s kinda hard to explain but, good energy for me is not necessarily positive and bright. You know that one moment when you concentrate while making music? Like in the office or in the studio, if you record with that certain feeling you got while writing a song/lyrics, you will end up with a satisfying product. Songs I made like that gives off that energy every time I hear it. And when everyone can feel that energy that’s what I call “Music that gives off Good energy”

Q: So that moment has all of your energy and inspirations?
Yeah. To me that’s the biggest energy source so when people listen to it, whether it is negative or positive, I believe that some kind of energy spreads through their body. When you concentrate on something and make something, that energy gathers to those who listen. That’s something that you can do against one’s will. So I consider that energy significantly while making music. Hit song makers also say that Hit songs come out in 5 or 10 minutes, and I think it’s because of the energy.

Q: You’re showing great talents as a producer. Do you have a concept team that you want to make?
I’m not sure yet. I’m still producing but making a new entertainment company or making a new artist sounds like such a far future. I’m still busy with myself and BIG BANG. If I do become a producer, it’ll be later when I have time. Now I’m just learning and it’s still just so much fun to go on stage with a song that I produced.

Q: I think music is something that you want to do more and do better as you listen and make more music. Of course, it’d be the same for all arts. You once said that something GD can do the best right now is Hip Hop, I wonder if you have more genres that you want to do well on.
I wanna do better in Hip Hop. Of course I like exploring new music but all that learning of new stuff melts into hip hop in the end. I won’t go and say that I wanna do heavy metal all of a sudden. But I want to blend in other music genres into hip hop. I feel like I still have a lot to learn in Hip hop and it is something I always want to do the best on!

Q: Many foreign medias and foreign staffs have praised you. Things like “GD is like a combination of Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga” or “GD is like the Korean Kanye West.” When you hear those things, I think you would feel proud but pressured at the same time.
Ah, that’s a SUPER BIG pressure. I think that’s too much of an overpraising. But it makes me feel like this at the same time. I like being compared to someone who is way higher than me but what I have to work on is not to hear “GD is like this person” but to work hard enough so that it’d be a compliment for new artists to hear “You’re like the 2nd GD” I think I can be something if I learn more from other artists and train myself more firmly. Even if it’s later in the future.

Q: As much as fans anticipated for GD’s solo, they’re all waiting for BIG BANG’s comeback. When are you planning to have a comeback?
BIG BANG’s comeback all depends on me haha, because I have to get my things together and start writing songs haha... So my head hurts a little. But BIG BANG does have a Japanese dome tour in November. We’re doing 6 dome tours, and I heard that we’re the 1st Korean artist to do so.
We go to Japan a lot because we get good reactions from them but I feel like we have to work harder for our Korean fans. It’s been almost 7 years since our debut, but we only have 2 original albums. There almost all mini albums…

Q: I heard that you spend a lot of your time in YG Entertainment. Do you guys chat a lot there? I’m asking this cause I’m genuinely curious, what do you guys talk about?
Isn’t it pretty obvious? What do girls talk about?

Q: Hm like Guys, Clothes, hair and etc?
It’s the same for us.

Q: Guys don’t usually talk about those things!
We all have similar preferences. Since we spent a lot of time together, we like similar things. Things like food preference, girl preferences, music preferences and culture preferences. So we talk about girls a lot and talk about music, life, and American shows that I watched yesterday.

Q: Oooh ‘Girl preferences’! May I ask who you’re ideal type is? I bet everyone’s curious!
This is a little too vague but I like girls with good sense. If you think about it, that’s a pretty hard thing. Even when you’re wearing a piece of clothing, it should have good sense and even when you say a word, it should sound like you have a good sense. Just like a really fashionable girl with a good sense? Those kinds of girls know how to take care of themselves and are usually nice to others. I think they also look smart.

Q: And pretty too?
Even better.

"To some extent, I have been more relaxed. It can be said that I have more than I should have in the fields of music and life.
I feel that I have been changing bit by bit. Although I am not a perfect adult yet, I am right in the middle of it.
I have told myself that, 'I have to work hard to strive for the best in my life.’ I think that is because I have such a mindset so I can handle everything."

One sentence from ‘Star G-DRAGON’ to ‘Young Jiyong’ ...’ Jiyong is really hardworking!’

***

Q1: You didn’t have any burdens when your new album was released?
A: Just a little bit. When I am doing music, I sometimes become over compulsive to ‘always make some new music’.
I think I am like this because I sense what others are perceiving me as. If I work extraordinarily hard because of these expectations, I will, but I just cannot produce the good music that I want.
Therefore, this album was produced not under any pressure. I just made it on my own free will.

Q2: What are the biggest differences between this one and your first solo/HEARTBREAKER?
A: I am more relaxed this time. When I was producing the first solo album, i just wanted to convey some messages through it.
The message was ’no blood will come out even if I am pinned’ However, after trying out different kinds of music activities, I started to change and wanted to convey my real emotion that I have in my everyday life.
I want to express the feelings that everyone has felt at least once, in music so I think people will feel/understand my songs.
Because I was making the album with this feeling, I felt more satisfied compared to the time that I made my first album. If full marks are 100, I think I at least can get 85/100? (Laugh)

Q3: The transformation in G-Dragon is... ?
Compared with 3 years ago, it seems that I have handled my work better. It was like chasing after my thoughts without thinking much about the consequences before, but now I think I know how to control it more.
Although it looks like I am now calculating how much efforts I have paid, I am cleverer in making music now. I think it can help me to reduce the chances of errors too.
When I am listening to HEARTBREAKER now, I would think, ‘why would I do an album like that?’ And there are times that I do not want to listen to it.
However, if I listen to this album 3 years later, I think I will also feel the same. When I am making music, I am growing at the same time, ain’t I?

Q4: What is the concept of this album?
A: To be frank, there are no special concepts. I just insert the mindset of ‘the 24-year-old G-Dragon has to keep on living’ into it.
I also want to see myself is through you (the fans/audience), ‘G-Dragon is thinking like this.’ and ‘he is walking on the path of his life like this!’

Q5: You composed all of the melodies and lyrics in the album.
A: I was also very troubled as a translator since I think , 'starting from now on, I cannot let others think that I am an amateur.’ Therefore, whenever I was free, I would write songs and lyrics.
And now my singer friends say ’ it is the music only G-Dragon can make’.
Moreover, since the whole world is now concerned more about K-pop, I want to make more great songs which can be listed to as classics.

Q6: Please introduce the title song, ‘Crayon’.
A: It is the combination between Crazy and Jiyong. It means 'just crazy with G-Dragon like when you are crazy with other things’ and 'let’s get crazy’.
When I was producing it with Teddy, I wrote down the lyrics ‘Why So Serious?’ on blank paper.
It is a famous line of the Joker in the film ‘the Dark Knight’. I like the line very much. I want to say it to so many people, ‘why you have to be so serious?’
And I also want people to think ‘this kid has really gone crazy’ when they see my performance on the stage. Luckily, I am able to achieve all of these.
The music video is really interesting, too. I like it so much!

Q7: Why did you choose it as the title song?
A: President Yang said I should choose an interesting song to be the title song. The period of producing such a song was really hard.
At the very beginning, because I wanted to do what others wanted me to do, I ended up producing nothing.
I was also really worried beforehand because I could not write out the vocal part, but I did it when I went out with Teddy.
When I was producing 'Crayon’, once again I felt that I could only produce music with a light heart and when I am enjoying it.
I am not saying if you have a lot of worries, you cannot produce good songs.

Q8: You wore a lot of costumes in the ‘Crayon’ MV, which one do you like best?
A:The Frankenstein costumes that I wore in the second half of the MV. Since it was a gift from a designer that I love so much, I decided to wear it.
Although I had worn it to dance in, it was cut. I have also worn skirts like a girl! There are scenes showing a pretty girl looking back.
Because I dressed like a girl, there were loads of people asking whether it was really me.
The back view was from a real girl and it was combined with my face.Because I am slim, there is such a misunderstanding!
I have worn all of the costumes that I want so I am really satisfied!

Q9: There is your unique charm in the MV and the music of ‘One Of A Kind’!
A: I want to show my unique side to you like it says my title song.
In the song which ‘only G-Dragon can do’ , I want to give you a free and impetuous feeling.
Because its the first solo album I have released in 3 years, I hope I can be 'one of the unique artists’.

Q10: Is 'That XX’ your real experience?
A: Not all of the songs are my real experience.
Everyone should have experienced love triangle before, I want to use some lyrics which is a bit sentimental to describe this feeling.
If you witness your lover having an affair, you will not say some gentle words, right?

Q11: You label ‘That XX’ as a song which people under 18 cannot listen to…
A: I set the borderline first. Although it was labelled like that, I don’t think the lyrics ‘that bastard’ is that tabooed.
Comparing restricting myself from doing everything, isn’t it more important if I can show my thoughts to you?
Of course there are people who hate words like ‘that bastard’, I think there also have people who don’t think like this.
I am just following my true self. If this song is entitled as 'That Guy’ or ‘That Man’ , will the song still convey the same atmosphere?

Q12: What do you think about the censorship system that the song’s MV had to go through before it was released?
A: I was quite burdened. I think I should have been able to produce music which is even more out of the box, I could not finish it as to what I had expected.
Therefore, the MV looks a little bit plain. If it is like this, people cannot enjoy it as much as they should …

Q13: You have collaborated with JAURIM’s Kim Eung-ah and Nell’s Kim Jong-wan.
A: I tried to ask whether they are willing to sing and they promised to help in a very short time.
I have asked for the permission of president Yang faithfully, so he approved of me collaborating with Eung Ah noona to sing ‘Missing You’.
Kim Jong Wan Hyun whom I sang ‘Today’ with , I knew through Tablo hyung, though I know he is a very straight person. But in fact he is a very nice person. I have learned loads of things after working with them.
Seeing them being able to present my products more than I myself can, I have the feeling that ‘Aww.. no wonder they are my seniors.’
Because of this, I rethought again how I should work with the staff of my company.
I also want to work with more people after this.

Q14: The lyrics of ‘Light It Up’ is very interesting.
A: I write the lyrics after watching 'War Crimes’.
I have also thought of including funny messages for the people who hate me. Originally I wanted to write this for a person who hates me but there are so many people that dislike me, I just cannot dedicate it to a particular person.
That’s why the lyrics have now become ‘although you guys hate me, I don’t care even a bit.’ I know it is a bit naive, I just hope that you can find the lyrics cute.
Because there are some cute elements in the rap starting from the very beginning.

Q15: You have collaborated with other artists, 4 songs out of the 7!
A: It is obvious that the 5 members of Big Bang have their own unique charms, I will not pursue voices other than these.
Therefore, even if we want to collaborate with each other, it is kind of difficult. But since it is the solo album that I have not released for a long time, I am a little bit more greedy. (laugh)

Q16: Who you think you must collaborate with?
A: ‘Kim Bunjan’ of ‘Wind City’.
There are songs which I have collaborated with other artists too, but they are not included in this album.
I think it will also be interesting if i can collaborate with the artists of my company.

G-Dragon for "GQ Korea"
at November 2012

Interview:

1. During the shooting, you were more serious than before.
GD: Do I seem lightweight?

2. I thought you would have a ball.
GD:Well, I enjoy doing music, but shooting is different with music because it's not the thing that I can do well, so I usually get a bit nervous to reduce mistakes during the shooting.

3. I remember when you sang "I'm 13 years old.". Is there any difference from the past?
GD: Umm.. I don't feel any different about my opinion that I will continue to do music as I get older. Surrounding conditions are different from the past. It was difficult to find music and listen to it, difficult to be on the stage. I'm happy that I can do whatever I want now. This surrounding condition is good to make my image. Well, others might envy me, but I think I worked so harder than they worked Seems like.. reward? Yes so I feel relaxed these days.

4. You said "G-Dragon, whatever they say." in the song "I'm 13 years old" and "The boy". There's no change, right?
GD: Yes. At that time, I did like that to show me even if there's nothing inside me. But now,hm.. there's something inside me.

5. You did collaboration with Ambush of Verbal. What made you like him?
GD: I like them because they are now much major. Musicians have their own brand and build up their power. It seems very cool. And that is what I want to do someday, so I asked a lot of questions when I met Verbal first.

6. It's familiar that others feature G-Dragon's music, but it's a bit unfamiliar that G-Dragon features others' music. This case is the latter one. How was it?
GD: This's the thing that I don't know. I tried to learn many things from them because they already achieved good results. They are like.. seniors who can teach me good things which are useful to me when I'm launching my own brand.

7. Is there still something that you want to have?
GD: Something that I want... now? I really want to have Yves Saint Laurent, though it aren't out yet. Because I've liked Hedi Slimane since I was young. I don't see collection yet, but I really want to see and to have it as soon as it comes out.

8. There is nothing that you can't have, right?
GD: Honestly, there's nothing. I can get if I try to get...

9. It seems like Big Bang is getting back to Hip-Hop since Bad Boy.
GD: From the very start, Big Bang have been a Hip-Hop group although it takes 5-6 years to get back to Hip-Hop. We thought people would follow us if we did idol's music first, did something else that people liked, gained popularity, and after that, did music we wanted. So I think we're doing Hip-Hop little by little and secretly. Our final aim is that popularizing Hip-Hop again.

10. Music and fashion are the one thing, right?
GD:Yes. People call me fashionista, but.. it's a bit.. embarrassing. Of course I'm very thankful but because I like music, I like fashion so I do like that. But there are many people who can dress very well. I occasionally saw foreigners who dressed well, and sometimes copied them...
